Kayla Taylor

Kayla Taylor (“Tay” of TayCair) obtained a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2015. Kayla is passionate about mental health and wellness, and she has been practicing in the field since 2010 where she started as a developmental aide for children with disabilities. In 2019, Kayla began her own private practice in psychology after working for several years with another agency specializing in psychology services for children and youth. She is a strong believer in mind-body connection and the importance of healthy and secure attachments to our overall health and wellbeing. Kayla has always loved writing and has had many people inspire her along the way. It was her father who told her to write a book one day. Outside of work, Kayla loves spending time with her family and friends and travelling. She always enjoys learning and engaging her mind in new ways. This book is very special to Kayla after the death of her own mother in January 2020. It is with great pride that she shares this book, and therefore a part of her heart and soul, with everyone.

Elizabeth Cairns

Elizabeth Cairns (“Cair” of TayCair) obtained a Master of Counselling degree from the University of Calgary and is a registered psychologist. She has always had a love of writing and a strong desire to help those in need. Liz started her own private practice in 2010 and decided to specialize in working with children with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, etc.). She runs a successful business helping children and families, and has many “side projects,” including her involvement with TayCair publishing, training her Siberian husky to be a therapy dog, and being a mentor and supervisor to others trying to enter her field. Liz is a Triple P facilitator and has delivered workshops on dealing with challenging behaviour, and has taught and attended training on personality theory. Working with children and those with special needs (who she believes are actually “gifted”) makes her heart sing; they and their families teach her every day. Liz believes that being dedicated to the sport of figure skating growing up taught her the values of perseverance, determination, and striving for one’s personal best while helping others to achieve theirs.

Rob Adams

Rob is an award-winning tattoo artist residing in Calgary, Alberta. He is a husband and a father of three. Born in England and immigrating to Canada, Rob found a love for art at a young age, and, through the Windsor, Ontario, punk rock scene, garnered a fascination with tattoo artistry and culture – clearly a lasting influence. Outside of creating art, Rob is an avid film enthusiast, and he also enjoys music, the occasional round of golf, and spending quality time with friends and family. This is his first foray into book illustration, and he is delighted to create the visuals and be a part of this very important story.
